A gorgeous carved butterfly in a lovely gemmy piece of Pink Amethyst with added druze crystal.
This crystal is a fairly recent discovery - found in Patagonia, Argentina. It draws its pink colouring from the inclusions of Hematite within the structure of its crystal. Gemmologists have managed to establish that pink amethyst is much closer to Amethyst than any other major mineral form, including rose quartz.
