These Satya Backflow incense cones in the wonderful Nag Champa fragrance are specially engineered cones with a hollow tunnel running through the midle that allows smoke to cascade downwards rather than rising. When paired with a dedicated backflow or waterfall burner the incense flows downwards like water, creating a mesmerising visual display perfect for meditation, yoga or relaxation.
These last few packs have been resealed as the original box was very flimsy, but rest assured they are new.
- The Physics: Traditional incense smoke rises because hot air is lighter than the surrounding air. Backflow cones trap the smoke inside their hollow central core, cooling it down as it travels down the tunnel until it exits the bottom hole as a dense, heavy mist.
- Burner Requirement: You must place these cones onto a specialized backflow burner with an open alignment hole. A traditional flat or solid-top holder will block the downflow effect.
- Environment Matters: The waterfall visual effect only works in a completely draft-free room. Even a minor breeze from an open window, air conditioner, or fast movement will disrupt and scatter the cascading smoke.
- The Setup Delay: Do not panic if the smoke doesn't cascade instantly. It typically takes about 5 to 10 minutes of burning before the smoke reaches the internal hollow and starts flowing downward.
- Post-Burn Cleanup: Because backflow smoke is pulled downward, it leaves behind a heavy, oily resin residue on the ceramic burner. Make sure to wipe down your burner with a damp cloth or isopropyl alcohol after it cools to prevent buildup and odor mixing.
