The Maldon Mud Race 2026

Sunday April 26th 2026

Promenade Park, Park Drive, Maldon

Activities and entertainment from 10am with the race planned to start around 2.30pm

The Maldon Mud Race is all set for one of the biggest events ever. The event is full for competitors, with 350 runners competing in the gruelling competition, many in fancy dress and all aiming to raise the maximum for charities.

This year will see a second Race set off immediately after the main event with teams of Uber Fit elite athletes competing to test just how tough it can be to cross the 400 yard course once the deep, intense Blackwater mud is fully churned up.

The second race involves two teams from Maldon Rugby Club with both a male and female team, fitness experts from Park Drive Health Club and a fourth team headed up by Essex Olympic boxer Lewis Richardson, who achieved Bronze in the 2024 Paris Olympics and turned Pro in 2025. Lewis will be joined by another undefeated professional boxer, two high level marathon runners and an MMA World Champion so the Maldon Mud Race team hope the crowd will enjoy this most spectacular challenge of challenges.

Brian Farrington, Maldon Mud Race Chairman told us, “It’s going to be a lot of fun - we'll have a huge funfair for the family and some incredible companies to whom we are incredibly grateful as they are huge supporters of our event. We couldn’t achieve such a great family day out without the support of this local business community. The event is free for spectators and we will have lots of food and drink offerings and many of the charities who benefit from our fundraising will be on site including J’s Hospice, Maldon CSV, Essex Wildlife and many more.”

Promenade Park will have over 40 local trade stands with a wide range of offerings from icanvalet car products, artists, food stands, chocolate, jewellery, crafts, cakes and beauty products. À further 30 local companies will be on site to meet the community with everything from Blackwater Sailing Club with a kids sailing boat to Hiking Hounds so make sure you grab a picture with your pet in their selfie frame to showcase on social media!

The timing of the start of the race is governed by the tide and this year the team have announced that the start of the race is planned for around 1pm. Huge screens will help you catch all the action.

Admission for spectators is free.

Parking is available in Promenade Park and the town car parks (charges apply)

The day will raise important funds for local Maldon and Essex charities.
